Ernest L. Bruns, age 82, of Chillicothe, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Ernest was born on June 5, 1942 in Milford, Iowa to Delwin D. and Edythe L. (Schull) Bruns. He married Barbara A. Neary on March 20, 1987.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara; his children, Todd (Billy) Bruns of Charleston, IL, Troy (Melissa) Bruns of Eau Claire, WI, Traci (Ben) Harris of Laurel, MD, Scott Truelson of Chillicothe, IL and Matthew McDonnell of DeWitt, IA; his grandchildren, Jordan (Cecelia) Truelson, Shaela Truelson, Tyler Bruns and Sophia Bruns; and his great-granddaughters, Quinn and Harper Truelson. Also surviving are his brothers, Delwin (Jeri) Bruns, Jr. of East Peoria, IL, Robert (Julia) Bruns of Iowa City, IA and Daniel Bruns of Charleston, IL; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Betty Anderson and Deanna Harper; his brother and sister-in-law, John and Karon Bruns, his daughter-in-law, Stefanie T
