William (Bill) Turnbull, 84, of rural Sparland passed away on March 16, 2025 at his home.
Bill was born in Peoria, IL, on February 4, 1941, to Eugene and June (Miller) Turnbull. He married his high school sweetheart Pat Holsinger on August 19, 1962, at the Lacon Congregational Church.
He was a fifth-generation farmer in the LaPrairie area his entire life. He was a past president of the LaPrairie Mutual Insurance Co. board, past president and lifetime member of the former Lacon Country Club (now Timber Ridge Golf Club), a multi-term Sparland school board member, and a Master Mason.
Bill loved sports, especially golf, March Madness basketball, and the St Louis Cardinals. He also enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids play sports locally.
He is survived by his wife Pat; his children Scott (Jody) Turnbull and Sue (Mike) Elsasser, all of rural Sparland; his brother Robert Turnbull of Bloomington; and his grandchildren Josh (Bethann) Turnbull of Wauconda and Cam (Sydney) Turnbull of Prince
