Donald E. Evans, age 88, of Peoria, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025 in Astoria, IL.
He was born September 9, 1936 in Peoria, a son to Clarence E. and Elsie (Jung) Evans. On February 14, 1959 he married the love of his life Dorothy E. Schmitt in Peoria and together they cherished 66 years. Donald worked as a derrick boat operator for the Corps of Engineers for over 35 years. He enjoyed working out at his farm and most importantly spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy of Peoria; one daughter Deanne (Chris) Switzer of Peoria; daughter-in-law Barbara Evans of Washington; four grandchildren: Maggie and Suzi Switzer, Katie (Austin) Ortiz and Karen (Ben) Dixon; three great-grandchildren; and one brother Paul (Jill) Evans.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, one son Daniel Evans, two brothers: Jerry Evans and Leonard Evans, and one sister Beverly Smith.
Visitation will be held at Wright & Salmon Mortuary on Thursday, March 13, 2025 from 9:00
