Edward E. Winkler, 85, of Peoria Heights, IL, died on June 28, 2024, at Carle Health Proctor Hospital.
Ed was born on September 25, 1938, in Pekin, IL, to Edward and Litta Winkler. He married Donna Jacobs on August 11, 1979, in Peoria.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 45 years, Donna Winkler; children: Jim Winkler, Beth (Hunter) Mooneyham, Christopher (Lee-Anne) Raistrick, and Greg (Jen) Raistrick; grandchildren: Logan, Sean, Seamus, Seadon, Seala, Madison, and Jace; and great-grandchildren, Rayleigh and Esme. He was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Smith.
Ed was born and raised in Pekin, graduating from Pekin High School in 1956. At the age of 16, he went to Interlochen Music Camp in Interlochen, Michigan. It was here that he cemented his love of music. In 1960, Ed graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education. He later obtained a Master's degree in Music Education from Western Illinois University.
