Michael Richard Sylvia, Mike, passed away on June 14, 2024, in Peoria, Illinois, at the age of 78. He had recently suffered a severe stroke, and his body couldn't take anymore. He had fought many severe illnesses over the last 8 years, including surviving stomach cancer. Born on November 19, 1945, in Wareham, Massachusetts, he served in the United States ARMY and spent most his life as a long-haul truck driver and a master carpenter. Mike was skilled with his hands and took pride in his ability to build a home from the foundation to the roof.

Mike's personal life was filled with the joy of hobbies such as fishing, watching baseball and hockey-especially his beloved Red Sox and Bruins-and taking long Sunday car rides. He cherished the time spent with friends and most of all his family.

Mike is survived by his sister, Geri Hanson, and brother, John Ellis; his ex-wife, Christine Sears Cater, and their daughters, Robin Savage (Sylvia) and Abigail Sylvia. He was a proud grandfather to K
